About Us

Our Story

Tim Higgins, founder of Sitka Timber Lodges, is from a three generation family of joiners and cabinet makers originally from Tewksbury.  N.F. Higgins and Sons was established in 1974, with Tim joining the company in 1976 to serve his apprenticeship, taking over the family business in 1981. Renamed T.J Higgins Joiners and Builders they built their first timber frame building in 1987.

In 1990 Tim and his family relocated to the Lake District where his two sons Neil and Sam joined the business. In good Higgins’ tradition they also went to serve their joinery apprenticeship and assisted in the construction of more than 25 self build homes for various clients, building a reputation for excellent standards of craftsmanship.

In 2007 Tim was approached by a holiday park owner. He had plans to build a park home which not only complied with the mobile home planning act, but also was a beautifully crafted building.  Knowing the reputation of T.J. Higgins for creating timber frame buildings with structural integrity, durability and high levels of insulation, Tim was the obvious choice for the job.

A first lodge was built that complied with both the high requirements of planning and the park owner. From this beginning Sitka Lodges was formed and many lodges have been developed and built since.
